Sex Down South (Sept) 2023: Body Love — Atlanta, GA

“Our unapologetic embrace of our bodies gives others permission to unapologetically embrace theirs.” – Sonya Renee Taylor

Step into a celebration of self-love and diversity at Sex Down South 2023, where this year the essence of body love takes center stage! Following the bold and exhilarating naked parade that left a lasting impression during #SDSCon22, this year's event is all about embracing the diverse array of human bodies.

From the radiant beauty of Black and non-Black bodies to the vibrancy of queer and trans bodies, every individual form finds its rightful place. SDS celebrates conventional bodies, disabled bodies, athletic bodies, couch bodies, surviving bodies, and thriving bodies - all the bodies!

Amidst a world that profits from insecurities fueled by norms, #SDSCon23 raises vital questions about self-love against the white cisheteropatriarchy. How do we radically love ourselves, inspiring others unapologetically? How do we step into the unknown despite fear?

#SDSCon23 affirms the power of self-love, inviting celebration of every body. Explore a range of subjects, from Religion & Sexuality, BDSM & Kink, Polyamory & Non-monogamy, Race & Sexuality, Disability & Sexuality, and so much more!

For first-timers, event founders Marla and Tia offer this advice:

  1. Relax. Feel the love as you enter.

  2. Plan your schedule - 100+ workshops, keynotes, and night events!

  3. Connect - affinity meetups for all.

Here’s what they told us to tell you:

“Don't be scuuuured. Just kidding.....

First, take a deep breath. This conference was made out of love and you'll be wrapped in it as soon as you step foot into the conference hallway. Sex Down South was designed to feel familiar, sort of like the first day of school after missing your friends all summer. In this utopian, we prioritize marginalized people and celebrate the varied expressions of sexuality and sensuality. You'll be safe here. You'll feel liberated.

Second, review the schedule and map out what classes and events you'd like to attend. This may feel overwhelming - but take your time a few days before and read the workshop descriptions. There will be over 100 workshops, keynotes and night events to choose from and you'll be mad if you miss something that won't come back around for another year.

Thirdly, go make some friends or bring someone with you. Even when attendees show up alone, they leave with lovers, new family and business connections. There are affinity meetups for Singles, Sex Workers, Couples, Kinkters.... the list goes on.”

Oh, and btw, I (Sherri) suffer from social anxiety and chronic illness, and both Reuben and I are still healing from the shrapnel of purity culture, so if anxiety hits, find us in the healing room. We understand! 😊
