Being in an interracial relationship, I also truly appreciate how the couples who look like us aren’t fetishized or stereotyped.
What Reuben (He) Likes About It:
Though she's not a PoC, Erika Lust has really thought deeply about how her platform is going to depict people of color. She's done an amazing job of capturing interracial relationships, especially mixed relationships between Black and White couples and mixed race groups.
Regardless of ethnicity and/or whether the leading cast are straight size (re: skinny/thin) or thicc (re: curvy/fat), all of her films are focused on high production value and quality narrative. I really appreciate how the actors are presented on screen and I'm always looking forward to the platform’s upcoming release. Erika clearly loves the genre, and has a keen eye on capturing the beauty of the actors in her films and it shows every time.

What drew me to Shape of Beauty, honestly is my husband’s love of thiccness. We’ve tried other sites that feature curvy girls, but had a hard time getting past the stereotypical mainstream aesthetic, fetishization, and toxic masculinity. Shape of Beauty looked to be different, so we gave it a try. It’s not perfect, but it’s a huge step in the right direction. Overall, I would give it a 7 out of 10 because the few we enjoyed, we really enjoyed, and I would like to see more.
I appreciate the glamor, the storytelling, and the obvious adoration of my curvacious sisters! If you’re used to mainstream BBW films and are looking for something different, I think you’ll really appreciate it. When Sherri first told me about Shape of Beauty, I had a similar reaction to when I first heard Drake say “I like my girls BBW” in ONLY. You feel seen when you see the niche treated with respect on its name!
I was hoping for a site where the performers are shown as the beautiful, erotic, delicious people I see them to be and nothing less. And in that area, Shape of Beauty does not disappoint. All of the performers are filmed as the beautiful people they are. They don’t attempt to hide “problem areas” or other frustrating techniques that film makers who don’t themselves appreciate a genre will attempt.
It was such a breathe of fresh air – film makers who see what I see, when they’re working with curvy women. We need more of that.
That being said, they don’t have a lot of content in this specific channel, only about 12 videos, and even then, of the small selection they do have in their library, some still suffer from the same stereotypical shit in how the dude’s interact with the women. And those are the ones that keep us looking for alternative creators.
Fortunately though, there are a few gems, and those are in my list of faves ACROSS platforms. With those in particular, I appreciate that the performers actually seem to like each other, appreciate each others beauty, and genuinely seem to enjoy performing together – simple things like eye contact, affection, and passionate tender kissing make a world of difference.

I found MLNP to be great for starting deep conversations with Reuben, and on occasion a good slow burn. What I probably appreciated most was what we learned about ourselves, both individually and as a couple while watching the films. When I first tried MLNP I hadn’t watched any erotic films in a very long time. I had pretty much swore them off entirely. So MLNP was a breath of fresh air for me.
Watching other real couples do it like they do on the Discovery channel, lol, stretch marks, cellulite and all, made me see my own body in a whole new light, and that felt (and continues to feel) really, really good. So huge shout out to Cindy for fighting to make real world sex a normal part of the conversation, and to all the brave couples who allow the rest of us to be flies on your wall. MLNP stars hit it the way I imagine most of us do, they're just kinky enough to put it all out there. And while I think the platform def needs more representation from Black and Brown folks, I know it's something that's important to Cindy and her team, so I believe it’s something that’ll continue to work itself out as the list of Make Love Not Porn Stars continues to grow.
It's def a must add if you've got kids who are of age and you wanna ensure they get access to erotica that's not gonna warp their perception of sexuality, sensuality, and especially how women are portrayed on screen. It's a great project for folks from all different places and with all levels of experience to see human sexuality close up and with way less filters on than is ordinarily seen in the genre. Big ups to this project!
