Happy Birthday, Sherri! 🎂

If you think you know me, think again!

Just kidding, if you’ve been following me for a minute you will definitely know some of these things. But hopefully I’ve added a few details you didn’t already know 😁

  1. I bought my first sex toy (a bullet vibrator) with my husband Reuben in 1996-ish at Spenser's Gifts in the mall.

  2. I didn't always watch or celebrate porn, and truth be told, most of it doesn't really resonate with me. However, there are a few gems that I absolutely love with a capital-L, and if you ask, I'm happy to share my favorites with you.

  3. I became an ambassador for Erika Lust's 'The Porn Conversation' because, as a self-proclaimed recovering prude, I've come to realize that not all porn is bad porn, and that some of it can actually be great for relationships.

I also strongly believe in providing age-appropriate sex education, and empowering young people to make informed decisions about their own sexuality as they grow and mature.

  4. I had an unconventional upbringing as a Jehovah's Witness, which meant that attending college wasn't part of my journey. I taught myself how to design websites (where my design career started) by immersing myself in the world of printed books and VHS tapes borrowed from the library.

  5. I haven't worked for "the man" since 1997. I’ve been my own boss since 2001, when Reuben and I started what would later become an award-winning design agency (Fly Media Productions), from our subsidized apartment in RI.

  6. The only things I have left from my days as a JW are my Bible (because it has sentimental stuff written inside) and my PTSD.

  7. Our first pleasure-related client at FMP was an online boutique in 2012, called Kinky Green. It was founded by sex-therapist Dr. Tiffanie Davis Henry and initially focused on selling eco-friendly intimate products. The business has since evolved into Hemp-Derived Wellness Solutions (the Muscle Melt is magic). Tho no longer a client, Kinky Green definitely left an indelible impression on me, and I’m honored to call Dr. Tiff my friend.

  8. Monifah Carter holds a special place in my journey as FMP's first celebrity client. I'll forever cherish that surreal moment in 2011 when she reached out after discovering us on Twitter. Thank god Reuben answered the phone! He put it on speaker, and it took me a good 5 minutes to fully grasp that we were speaking to thee Monifah! Do you really wanna touch it’s, Monifah! It was an exciting moment that I hope I never forget.

  9. One of my most treasured possessions is an extraordinary tiddies-out, BDSM canvas painting that Reuben and I purchased together. As soon as we saw it we knew we had to have it. It's displayed proudly in our studio/office, strategically positioned just out of sight from the (Zoom) camera lens.

  10. I've been living with ME/CFS since I was 16. My condition is classified as moderate, which means that when you see me on Zoom or The FlyDuo Sex Project, I (hopefully) don't appear sick. However, it also means that we might not have the opportunity to meet in person as often as both of us would like.

  11. The very first album I ever bought with my own money was Mazzy Star's 'So Tonight That I Might See' in 1994, along with the Boys II Men album, through the mail-order music club, Columbia House.

  12. Three songs that make me cry every single time I listen to them are: 'Get Up 10' by Cardi B; 'Ill Mind of Hopsin 7' by Hopsin; and 'Wish You Were Here' by Pink Floyd

  13. I got my first tattoo in 2021 at the age of 44. It took 6 hours and it was absolutely worth it!

  14. I often sense a few eye rolls when I share that my childhood dream was to become a mother and a wife. But y'all, with absolute sincerity, I mean that shit. My husband is not just a partner but a true ryda, the Clyde to my Bonnie. Can't nobody divide us.

And my incredible 26-year-old child, they hold a special place in my heart as the second greatest love of my life. They are my heartbeat and my proudest achievement. Everything else in life is just the sprinkles on top.

  15. There have been three books that truly changed my life. The first one, which may not be a surprise since I recommend it every chance I get, is 'God and Sex: What the Bible Really Says' by Michael Coogan. The other two are, 'Mating in Captivity: Unlocking Erotic Intelligence' by Esther Perel, and 'Sex at Dawn: How We Mate, Why We Stray, and What it Means for Modern Relationships' by Christopher Ryan and Cacilda Jetha.

All three of these books challenge conventional beliefs and have had a profound impact on my understanding of faith, intimacy, and human sexuality.

  16. A few years ago, I realized that I was bisexual. However, it was only last year that I truly learned to embrace and accept this part of my identity. Growing up in a Jehovah's Witness community and spending most of my life within its confines, I attributed my attraction to the feminine form as nothing more than admiration. After all, even gay guys appreciate titties, right?

It wasn't until nearly a decade after leaving the cult (let's call it what it is) that the walls around my understanding started crumbling down, and only because I took a sledgehammer to those mothafuckers. But here I am, proud and unapologetic, breaking free from the shackles of societal norms and embracing my truth.

  17. I typically don’t like to rewatch movies, but there are a few exceptions: Christmas movies, Fried Green Tomatoes, and Crossroads (the Britney Spears movie).

  18. I have an inexplicable love for iced coffee—it's one of my absolute favorite indulgences. Hot coffee, on the other hand, doesn't quite do it for me.

  19. The first person I tell good news, bad news, and everything else to is Reuben. He's my best friend, of course I'm going to tell him! If you don’t want Reuben to know, I suggest you don’t tell me.

  20. Vulnerability is something I'm learning to embrace out loud. I've realized that every single thing that has positively impacted my life came from the courageous act of others being vulnerable and sharing their stories with the world. I'm not special; I've made a lot of mistakes. But despite being knocked down nine times, I always manage to get up ten.

xoxo
